Forbidden - The World of Nightwalkers, book 1 - Jacquelyn Frank - Release: October 30, 2012
ABOUT THE BOOK:
From New York Times bestselling author Jacquelyn Frank comes this first book in The World of the Nightwalkers—an exciting and sensual new spin-off series in which the Bodywalkers, an ancient race of the night, battles the evil forces who prey on them.
The unexpected happens in an instant. On her way to work, secretary Docia Waverley hurtles into a crashing crossroads, and she quickly begins to suspect that things will never be the same. Then, when a tall, blond, muscular stranger intervenes on her behalf, telling her it is his duty to protect her at all cost, what is just a feeling turns to proof positive. That is, as long as Docia’s savior doesn’t turn out to be a crazed kidnapper.
When Ram finds Docia, he has no doubt that she is his queen. But as this golden warrior sweeps in to protect her, he feels something more than body heat every time they touch. He is overwhelmed by a searing connection that goes deep into the twin souls inside him. A desire rises in him that is forbidden—this woman is his queen, the mate of his king, his leader, his best friend. And yet Docia is so vulnerable and attractive that she awakens a hunger in Ram that is undeniable, a carnal craving he cannot yield to . . . not without risking the very survival of the Bodywalkers.
REVIEW: This was a pretty intense piece as far as the action and sensuality of the book goes. The author’s writing is done very well, and she has a way of drawing you into her scenes like no other.
I did feel a bit frustrated with this piece, though. The character development seemed to be lacking a bit and I never really felt as if I connected with them. I almost felt lost about half-way through the book, simply because the story jumped quite a bit without a lead in. Almost as if a huge chunk had been taken out.
I did give it three stars, when I wanted to give it so much more, but the lack of connection really bothered me with this piece. I won’t say it bombed entirely, because it didn’t, but with me, when I read, I want that connection. The action and sensual scenes were great though and it does keep you on the edge of your seat and turning the pages as you go.
For a thrilling package that boasts pieces of a completely new world, pick this one up today and dive in.

Edge of Dawn, Midnight Breed book 11 - Lara Adrian - Release: February 26, 2013
ABOUT THE BOOK: Twenty years after the terror of First Dawn—when mankind learned that vampires lived secretly among them—the threat of violence reigns as the two species struggle to coexist. The only group preserving the fragile harmony is the Order, an elite cadre of Breed warriors dedicated to protecting humans and vampires alike. And in this precarious world of torn loyalties and shattered trust, Mira, a fiery squad captain, finds that every fight bears an intensely personal cost.
Raised among the Order, Mira has always believed in the warrior’s code of swift—and even lethal—justice. But the one thing she desires more than the Order’s hard-won acceptance is Kellan Archer, a sexy but troubled Breed fighter. In love with him since childhood, Mira once broke through his tough exterior during an unexpected night of rapture, but the next day he mysteriously disappeared, never to return.
Kellan didn’t think he would ever see Mira again—or have to confront the truth of why he left. After abandoning the Order years ago, he now leads a band of human rebels intent on carrying out their own vigilante rule of law. Yet a high-profile kidnapping assignment brings him face-to-face with the past he sought to avoid, and the striking woman he has tried desperately to forget. And as tensions mount and the risk of bloodshed grows, Kellan and Mira must take sides—between the competing missions that dominate their lives, and the electrifying passion that claims their hearts.
REVIEW: Oh…my…God! I have read every single book in this series and I do have to say, this one is by far my favorite.
While I was a bit apprehensive about seeing Mira as a grown woman, seeing in the last book she was still a little girl, I do think Ms. Adrian did a phenominal job in explaining the jump in time. The building of feelings between these characters was very believable and the angst behind why they weren’t together was top notch.
The plot kept you engaged and the ending about tore my heart in half until Ms. Adrian managed to make it all better. I really don’t think I can praise this book enough, so instead I’ll summarize the entire thing with a few choice words. Edge of Dawn is an engaging and raw masterpiece that will have you both on the edge of your seat while reading and flaming the heat of desire from your face as you go.
Ms. Adrian has done it again and if I could I’d give six stars for a FANTASTIC read.

Renegade - Nancy Northcott - Release: November 6, 2012
ABOUT THE BOOK:
SHE FOLLOWS THE RULES
As the Collegium council's top sheriff of the southeastern United States, Valeria Banning doesn't just take her job seriously, she takes it personally. So when a notorious traitor wanted by the authorities suddenly risks his life to save hers, she has to wonder why.
HE BREAKS EVERY ONE OF THEM
As a mage, Griffin is sworn to protect innocents from dark magic, which is how he finds himself fighting side by side with the beautiful Valeria Banning. But when the council finds out the two have been working together, they're both left running for their lives-from the law, the threat of a ghoul takeover, and a possible Collegium mole.
REVIEW: This piece has originality written all over it. I was truly surprised at how different, yet how likeable it is. I haven’t read any of Nancy’s stories before but this is definitely a book that has put her in my sights and on my stalking list.
The story is something no other author has come up with, or at least no one that I have seen. And I read.
A lot.
It has a paranormal aspect to it, but it isn’t something that overshadows the story. The romance is just enough and the steam that kicks up in this piece isn’t over the top. I liked the way Nancy brought these two together and found myself gripping the book for the next conflict. There were quite a few twists and turns in the plot and they are ones that I’m sure the reader will enjoy.
I have this four and a half stars out of five for a job well done.

Rogue Rider, Lords of Deliverance, Book 4 - Larissa Ione - Release: November 20, 2012
ABOUT THE BOOK: They're here.
They ride.
The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse.
Born of a match between good and evil, four siblings stand between hell's minions and everything they want to destroy. They are the Lords of Deliverance, and they have the power to ward off Doomsday . . . or let it ride . . .
Jillian Cardiff came to this remote mountain town to forget the demon attack that almost killed her. Instead, she rescues-and falls for-a gorgeous stranger who has no memory of anything other than his name. Handsome, charming, and protective, Reseph seems like the kind of man whom Jillian can trust. But with hints of a troubling history of his own, he's also the kind of man who can be very dangerous . . .
Reseph may not know why he mysteriously appeared in Jillian's life, but he knows he wants to stay. Yet when Jillian's neighbors are killed, and demon hunters arrive on the scene, Reseph fears that he's putting Jillian in danger. And once it's revealed that Reseph is also Pestilence, the Horseman responsible for ravaging the world, he and Jillian must face the greatest challenge of all: Can they forget the horrors of a chilling past to save the future they both desire?
REVIEW: Ms. Ione has a way about her stories that take you from the very normal world into a world where Horseman, Vampires, Angels, and Demons actually do exist. Her writing is filled with such description that there is never an instant in the book where the reader loses sight of what is actually occurring. You’re drawn in, wrapped in the story, and engulfed in the drama.
And you love every minute of it.
I was hesitant at first, considering how Ms. Ione was going to bring credibility back to Reseph. However, within the first chapter I found I loved the idea and how she went about doing it. The entire book was gripping and held nonstop action and tension. The building of such beautiful characters gives the reader insight into exactly who Reseph is. He fully redeems himself and Jillian is a woman anyone would love to have on their side. She fights for everyone, and not only in a physical sense, and she fights for those who think they are weak, showing the strength anyone has inside.
I loved how Ms. Ione gave us an update on the other characters as well as closure on some. The entire story took me all of four hours to read and it was a piece I had a hard time putting down. Gripping, magnificent, and predicted for success are all words I’d use when describing this book.
Using a favorite word of Ms. Ione, five out of five stars for a fucking great read!

REVIEW: Oh…my…GOD.It was so worth the wait. What a fantastic read.Ms. Ione pulls you into her world and wraps you into her cocoon, bringing suspense, action, and a lustful read right to your fingertips. Literally.
This book was truly a humorous read and at times, had me laughing out loud.
There were also times that I was arguing (outloud!) with different things going on.I won’t give any spoilers to
it, in order to protect those that want to read it – and you totally should!
Thanatos was such a swoon-worthy male in this piece and I have to say he had captured my heart from the very first moment Ms. Ione introduced him. This piece just solidified that adoration.Regan is the perfect fit for
him, once again proving that Ms. Ione surely knows her characters.
It was a fast read even though it was some 300 and something pages long.I just couldn’t put it down. The
except for Rogue Rider at the end also made the entire read that much better. If you haven’t picked up the
book I would run, not walk, to the nearest store and do so NOW!
Five out of five stars for a fabulous adventure.

Where There's Smoke - Karen Kelley - Release: May 1, 2012
When sexy wannabe-demon, Destiny Carter, is kicked out of Hell, she lands in Ft. Worth, Texas with one week to corrupt a soul. Or else. She slips into a slinky red dress, and heads straight for the delicious, corruptible looking cowboy at the bar.
But Chance Bellew has his own agenda-saving souls. He's not your typical angel. He’s a nephilim, to be exact. Centuries ago, angels came down from Heaven and mated with mortal women. When the women bore children, a new race was created. Immortals with powers—demigods, nephilim.
But the children don’t live by the same rules as mortals, or that of the typical, robe-wearing, bright light-surrounding-them angels. Hell, most of the time the nephilim are breaking the rules, and making up new ones as they go. As long as
they don’t cross over to the dark side, everyone pretty much stays out of their way.
But sometimes a demon-in-training, who looks like Destiny, comes along and all Hell breaks loose.
Review: Where There’s Smoke by Karen Kelley was a book I doubt I’ll ever forget! Full of hilarious lines, steamy sexy scenes, romance, and action – such an enjoyable read that you’ll delight in everything that is between the smoking hot cover pages.
Destiny, our lead female, is hilarious, strong, and goes after exactly what she wants. We (the reader) watch as she slowly changes –for the better – all through the mortals she has grown close to here on Earth.
Chance is such a sweetheart who tries like hell to avoid the attraction he feels towards Destiny – but ultimately, as it should be, hits the ground hard for her.
We watch as these two go on a ride of their lives, however long they may be, discovering themselves, each other, and all about just what makes humanity something else.
The only downside to the novel were there were times that things had gotten a little cheesy as far as the lines shared between the two leads. That doesn’t take away from the nice plot, great writing, or the fantastic read. I recommend this book to anyone looking for some new and exciting on the scene. Four out of five stars.
